LM34936-Q1: Need a little help picking the best buck-boost converter

Part Number: LM34936-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5175-Q1, LM5152-Q1, LM5176, LM34936, LM5175

E2E,

My requirements:

1.  AEC-Q100 rated,

2.  VIN range: 7.5 to 12.6V

3.  VOUT = 12V (fixed)

4.  IOUT   = 6.27 A max

5.  Part must have a working PSpice model and reference design,

I have looked at the following TI parts:

1.  LM34936-Q1 - 2021,

2.  LM5175-Q1 - 2016,

3.  LM5176-Q1- 2021,

I just spent the past few weeks working with LM5152-Q1 so this is what I am most recently familiar with.

I understand the 4-switch buck/boost topology and steady-state math.

There seem to be a good number of controller chips to choose from (all depends on how one sorts the filter).

Given my requirements, can anyone recommend a better controller chip?

I am leaning towards the LM34936-Q1 controller chip.

Thank you,

Craig

  • Hi Craig,

Thank you for using E2E forums, Regarding your query all four of the devices seem to fit in with your design specs. I would recommend LM5176 as it is the latest version of LM5175, and it has a wider Vin range in comparison to LM34936. Also, there is the calculator tool available for this device that can help with the design. Hope this helps.

    BR,

    Haroon
