LMZ12001: Thermal shutdown test

Hi Sir,

As per the customer requirement we need to carry out thermal shutdown test for IC LMZ12001 on sample basis.

Kindly requesting to provide thermal shutdown test procedure with Input output test conditions for the same.

    Hi Yashodhar,

    Thermal protection helps to prevent catastrophic failures for accidental device overheating. Thermal shutdown activates at 165C typ which can not be reached at normal test condition. You need to power up the device at your application condition. Then use heat gun to gradually heat up device area with safe distance to avoid damage the IC. Meanwhile monitor the temperature and output voltage, when the IC temperature reaches 165C, the IC will shutdown. Please refer to datasheet 7.3.4 section.
