TPS2372-4EVM-006: TPS2372-4 to be configure for IEEE802.3at.

Part Number: TPS2372-4EVM-006
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2373

Hi ti support team,

My name is Rosario Mendez from MHT Lighting and we use this chip on our 90W Node product line working the PoE standard IEEE802.bt.

We also have another 60W node that work per IEEE802.at.

I am wondering if this chip can be also configure for IEEE802.at to deliver 60W.

I saw this statement on its datasheet, but I couldn't find a way to achieve this configuration.

Could you please provide me with this information?

Thanks,

Rosario Mendez

  • Hi Rosario,

IEEE802.3at standard sets the power limit to 30W at PSE and 25W at PD, therefore this chip configured for IEEE802.3at will not suffice your power needs.

This device is compliant with IEEE802.3bt standard which allows for up to 71W at PD side (Class 8).

Please refer to this chart for clarification between which standard can support which power levels.TPS2373 can support IEEE802.3at standard for power level of 30W at PSE and 25W at PD. This device can also support IEEE802.3bt standard up to 71W at PD. However 60W with IEEE802.3at is not achievable due to compliance.
