TL494: PID compensator

Genius 13959 points
Part Number: TL494

Hi Experts,

Good day. Seeking your advise on this query I posted on behalf of my Cx:

[1] Can we build a PI or PID compensator around the error amplifier of TL494 PWM IC?
[2] What's the gain bandwidth product of the error amplifiers inside the TL494 IC?

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

Yes, I'm sure your can implement a PI or PID compensator with the TL494 error amp.  Here is a brief description of the error amplifiers from the datasheet.

Here is another section of the datasheet related to the error amplifier.  The open-loop bandwidth is typically 95 dB with a typical unity-gain bandwidth of 800 kHz.

Here is a bode plot of the error amplifier (I suspect the LF gain should rise linearly to 95dB, not 80dB).

    Regards,

    Eric
