Hello TI Team,

We have done the schematic design of TPS546A24A buck- regulator with help Design Excel sheet calculator. Kindly review the Schematics, Bode Plot and thermal point view and share your valuable feedback.

Requirements:-

Design 1. 0.8V@5.5-7A , O/P ripple= 3mVp-p, Voltage tolerance= 3%, Vin=12Vdc, FSW=450KHz

IC Power Dissipation:- 0.493W

Thermally, the design should be no issue for the TPS546A24A.

A couple of minor improvement possibilities:

1) For a 5V input, the voltage drop across a 10Ω series resistor on AVIN could increase the drop-out of the VDD5 regulator, so I would recommend updating R1408 to 2.2Ω and C4359 to 4.7μF.

2) The TPS546A24A EN/UVLO pin has an internal 100nA leakage current to ground to ensure that the EN/UVLO pin can not "drift" or "float" up if the Enable source is unpowered, so R2843 may not be necessary.

3) For a VOUT = 0.8V, I would recommend selecting the 0.5V to 1.2V @ 0.05V step "Range" with a single resistor to ground. 0.8V is R2852 = 14.7kΩ, R1097 = Open

For such a low output voltage ripple, you may also want to consider a higher switching frequency.
