TPS65987D: Alternate mode to recognize

Dear teams,

My customer is using TPS65987D. Could I ask why it needs to send three requests from the DFP to the UFP to know the UFP's device, SVID, and mode separately in alternate mode? Why it can't get all the information with one time request, is it set by the USB IF Specficaton or limited by the package size?

This is determined by the USB-IF specification. I would suggest reading the following application note on Display Port alternate mode to learn more about how this alternate mode negotiation is completed: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva844b/slva844b.pdf
