BQ25708: BQ25708

Part Number: BQ25708
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25710

Hi,

We designed  a charger circuit for 4S battery pack. We want to verify the hardware circuit. For BQ25708, we tried to use Battery Management Studio tool. We can not see BQ25708 option in the target. How can we verify hardware circuit?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

I attached the schematic picture. Could you check it?

    Thank you.

  • You may use BQ25710.BQZ. The schematic looks fine.

  • Hi Tiger,

Thank you for response. We have  some problems.

    1. We measured above 14V the gate level of Q17 (BATFET) mosfet. For this status, BATFET is operating in linear mode. Although we set "Disable LDO Mode", we can not see  below 10V  on the  gate of Q17 Mosfet. For this status, we observed high temperature rise on the BATFET mosfet  at  above 1A charge current. BATFET signal picture was attached (Q17 Gate Signal). . How can we fully turn on BATFET?

    2. Our system input is 16V DC and we charge 4S Li-Ion battery ( Max voltage 16.8V). We noticed a deteoration on gate signal  of HDRV2  and LDRV2 mosfet. Because of  this deteoration, we see temperature rise on these above 1A charger current. How can we  do minimize signal deteoration?

We set charge current as 1536mA. For this status, we observed  gate signal of mosfets.  Before the test,  we removed BATFET from the circuit because of temperature rise. Gate signal pictures were attached.

Finally, when we increased battery charge current, we observed to increase difference between input current and charge current. This status cause temperature rise on the mosfets.

    Thank you.

  • It looks you used totally different set of MOSFETs and ran into many issues. My suggestion is to order a BQ25710EVM and compare your design to the EVM performance.

  • Hi Tiger,

Mosfets were out of stock in the EVM module. Because of that, we selected alternative mosfet. Are these problems definetely caused by the mosfet change? If not,  can you help us for solving the problem?

    Thank you.

  • My previous suggestion is the first step to debug your issue. Did you try?
