BQ24610EVM: Powering up the BQ24610EVM

Hello,

I just received the BQ24610EVM board for the first time. I'd like to follow the datasheet in figure 1 to connect a DC input power (power supply #1 in the fig) to an electric load (load #1 in the fig) without connecting a battery (load #2 in the fig). Keeping the same configuration the same as the figure, can I connect 24V DC power on the J1 ACPWR input, 1.8V DC on the J4 TS input, and the electric load in a constant current mode in J5 VSYS? This configuration is not working - power supply #1 keeps turning on and off; I am not sure there is a short circuit somewhere.

To summarize, how can I connect a basic 24V DC power supply in the input and receive that current on Load#1 while the battery is disconnected?

Hello,

Can you please capture a waveform of the input voltage, PH voltage, VBAT voltage, and SYS voltage when this is happening? Also, what are your jumper settings?

Thank you for your prompt response. I will check the waveform. However, I am a bit confused about the setup procedure described in the datasheet: bq2461x/bq2463x (HPA422A) Multi-Cell Synchronous Switch-Mode Charger (Rev. A).

in procedure 3.4.1, both PS#1 and PS#2 are expected to be powered at 0 ± 100mV (as described in section 3.3). How would these following voltages (in section 3.4.1 step2) appear if the DC voltages are mili volts? Also, are these voltages still valid if I do not connect the battery in J5(BAT)?

Measure → V(J5(SYS)) = 0 ± 500mV Measure → V(TP(VREF)) = 0V ± 1000mV Measure → V(TP(REGN)) = 0V ± 500mV

Hello,

This is just the beginning of the test procedure. Section 3.4.2 will verify the regulation voltage and Section 3.4.3 will verify the charge current. For 3.4.1 Load #2 or the battery is turned off.
