LP5907: Convert 3.7V of Lipo battery to 3.3V

Part Number: LP5907

Dear TI experts,

Can LP5907MFX-3.3/NOPB convert 3.7V provided by lipo battery to 3.3V stably?

Since I saw that the power supply recommdation in the data sheet mentions that Vin needs to be at least Vout + 1V.

Is using a switching regulator instead of an LDO a good option for converting Lipo battery supply voltage?

Best regards,

Will

  • Hi Will,

It absolutely can be used in this configuration. The dropout at max load is only 250mV, so you will still have 150mV of additional headroom there. Some things to think about though for your application would be efficiency, how low the battery needs to be able to drain and continue functioning, load current, transients, etc. All of these things will determine what is the best choice for your system and if a switching converter or LDO is better.

    Regards,
