BQ27441-G1: Fuel gauge

Part Number: BQ27441-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, GPCCHEM, BQSTUDIO,

Dear sir,

We are using BQ27441-G1A as fuel gauge with a "Tenergy 18650" battery.

The idea is to use the battery management studio and the EV2400 to generate the battery golden image.

1- How can I do so? The battery chemistry is already known by the battery management studio.

2- When selecting the BQ27441-G1A in the battery management studio, I get an error message (see photo).

Best regards,

Farouk B

  • Hello,

When you say: The battery chemistry is already known by the battery management studio.

Do you mean you have uploaded data in our GPCCHEM tool and you have obtained a ChemID?

When selecting the BQ27441-G1A in the battery management studio, I get an error message (see photo).

This error means the target file (bqz file) is not being detected by bqStudio or the firmware, device does not match with the target file.

Target files can be found in the default location "C:\ti\BatteryManagementStudio\config", and look for bq27441G1(A or B).bqz file

It can also be the USB-I2C adapter or the gauge.

    1. Select the gauge from the list
    2. Go to advanced communications
    3. Read from the gauge
3.1. If it says that there’s a problem with the communications adapter, then the EV2x00 doesn’t work. Plug it into another USB port and make sure the drivers are installed
3.2. If it says that the device doesn’t respond (NACKs) then it’s the gauge. Make sure that the I2C is connected. It may be in ROM mode. Check if it’s in ROM mode

  • Hello,

The battery chemistry is already known by the battery management studio.

I see that for an other BQ, I get this battery in "Chemistry" in "the battery management studio" as follows :

Is there a golden image for this battery for the BQ27441?

    Regards,

    Farouk B

  • Hello Farouk,

The other bq gauge you are referring to is a flash based gauge. The one you are using is a ROM based gauge. ROM based gauges do not support multiple ChemIDs.

As for the second question, we do not provide golden images for customers. This is why a learning cycle is required, and before a learning cycle, customer must ensure the right chemID is being used (our GPCCHEM tool should be used).

I suggest you read into the documentation we have for the bq27441-G1 where we provide quick start guides, simple guide for ChemID selection, etc.
