TPS55289EVM: The maximum voltage can only reach 5.1V

Part Number: TPS55289EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS55289

Hi Team,

1. Why can the maximum voltage of TPS55289EVM only reach 5.1V?

2. Is it related to the current size of the 0x02 register?

3.  The status of 0x07 register, what should I set to increase or decrease the voltage?

Thank you,

James

  • Hi Depeng,

I cannot see the picture you share. Could you share it again?

    1. TPS55289EVM maximum Vout could be adjusted. Are using the GUI to configure the Vout or using a MCU to configure the output voltage?

    2. It's related to VREF and feedback ratio register setting.

  • Hi Zack,

I don't think I could have described the problem clearly

Sorry, there should be no photos to upload

1.tps55289 This evaluation board, I use the input voltage 5V, set the register reference voltage 0xFE of 00&01, the reference voltage is 1.2V according to specifications, the value set by register 04 is 0x03, it is theoretical to output 21V, but he only output 5.1V.

    2. Do not know if this IC has a voltage limit set so that the voltage cannot be raised

3.Read 07 register 1, 0 bit 01, specification corresponds to buck pressure settings. I want to do boost pressure, should I do other configuration?

    Thank you,

    James

  • Hi James,

Could you adjust the VIN to other voltage, like higher and lower and check if the device could still 5V stably? And please probe SW1, SW2 waveform to confirm.

    1. To set the VOUT=20V, you need to write register 0x00 value to 0x80, then write register 0x01 value to 0x07.

    2. What do you mean voltage limit?
