there's no absolute maximum rating for the input voltage specified in the datasheet of the PTH08T260W. What is the (transient) surge voltage allowed for this part?

The PTH08T260Wxx absolute maximum input voltage with voltage transients is limited to 14V.

There is a another series (not footprint compatible) without special transient design or tracking capability at 2.25Amp output current (4.5vin to 18Vin) .It is thePTH08080WXX.
