PTH12000W: Information about the temperature rating of the internal inductor

Hi,

I am using PTH12000W, but the temperature of the part surface is very high. In particular, the surface temperature of the inductor reaches 118°C.

Is it possible to tell me the rated temperature of the inductor? Also, if there is a rated temperature for the internal parts, please let me know.

Hi Astro,

Unfortunately, we cannot share that information, but the inductor is within temperature rated range. The device is spec to work within -40 to 85°C operating range.

Correct. The inductor is within temperate rated range. Unfortunately I cannot share that information.

Hi, Alejandro

Our circuits are used under the following conditions.
・Input voltage = 12.5V
・Output voltage = 5.10V
・Maximum load current = 3.7A
・Ambient temperature = 65°C

When measuring the temperature of the PTH12000W inductor under these conditions, the temperature exceeds 120°C. As far as I can see from the data sheet, the above conditions are normal usage, so I think there is no problem even if the inductor exceeds 120°C. Is it possible to get your opinion?

Hello Astro,

Just make sure the IC is limited to 125C and the inductor to 150C. these are max temperatures you should not exceed.
