LMR14006YEVM: LMR14006YDDCR fix in webench power designer?

Part Number: LMR14006YEVM

Trying to double check values for the LMR14006YDDCR in Webench Power Designer but keep getting a minimum on time error with high voltage.

Example:

9-36V in, 3.3V out at 0.1 A.

>> Design update failed. Failed Minimum Ton MinOnTime of the device violated

This device should definitely support those values, but something is broken about the webench model for this device.

  • Hello Kevin,

According to the datasheet electrical characteristics table, it looks like the typical minimum on-time is 95ns.

The maximum VIN in the design you are attempting is 36V, which at 3.3V output and 2MHz operation will demand lower on-time than the minimum.

I would suggest lowering the maximum input voltage for your webench design (perhaps 16V max) in order to avoid minimum on-time limitation.

    Regards,

    Denislav

  • Ah I see. I guess I read Sleep Mode as some kind of discontinuous mode, but it may not be the same thing as real PFM. I will look for a different part for this application.
