BQ24400: minimum charge current

Hello,

I plan to use a BQ2000 or BQ24400 for charging 6 cells NiMH battery pack. Is there a minimum charge current to program with the resistor or it is possible to set a small charge current about 20mA or 30mA ? The power supply will be solar panels. Is there specific rules to apply for the layout ?

Hello David,

Thank you for your question. For such low current I would highly suggest switching to a liner charger. For example, the BQ25172 supports down to 10 mA charge current for 6 cell NiMH.
