UCC28740: Can UCC28740 be seen as a traditional fix-frequency control controller during AM range?

Part Number: UCC28740
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5021

Hi expert!

1. Can UCC28740 be seen as a traditional fix-frequency peal current mode control controller during AM range?

2. Actually, my customer is finding a SSR flyback controller with both fixed-frequency and HV startup. But I didn't find that in ti.com, do you know whether there exists such a solution in TI?

Best regards

Shuai

  • Hi Shuai,

    Thank you for the query.

    1. Yes you are correct on your observation with the UCC28740 for the AM range.

    2. But for UCC28740, the control law and the operating condition is going to change depending on the loading condition and the feedback from the optocoupler. So with UCC28740 we have the SSR based solution with HV startup but the control will change from FM-AM-FM depending on load. You might also want to check LM5021 which has fixed frequency but no HV start up.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

    Regards,

    Harish
