BQ25173: BQ25173 Charge current related inquiry

Part Number: BQ25173

Hi, TI expert.

A customer has an inquiry regarding BQ25173.

If you look at the BQ25173 Datasheet, Input Voltage: 3.0 ~ 18V. (Set as charging current 700mA)

As a result of our remote control charging test, the charging current decreases as the voltage increases.

Does the datasheet have information about it? Are there any related resources for reference?

Also, is the current phenomenon normal?

Please check.  Thank you.

  • Hello

the charging current decreases as the voltage increases.

This behavior is probably due to the Thermal Regulation feature that will reduce output current as die temp increases to 125C.  The BQ25173 is a linear regulator and power dissipation increase with output current and voltage drop across the device.  See figure 7-1 in data sheet also section 7.3.5.3

  • Hi, Bill

    Thank you for answer.

The customer company is further checking the status quo, and if there are additional inquiries, we will contact you again.
