LP5912-Q1: LP5912Q1.1DRVTQ1: Datasheet note (8) in page 5

Part Number: LP5912-Q1

Hi,

Good Day.

In the datasheet for this part, it states on Page 5 that the dropout voltage is not a valid condition for output voltages below 1.6V. Since this part is a fixed output LDO of 1.1V, what does this note mean?

Let me just add that customer is looking to reduce the Vin from 5V to 3.3V and needed to know the minimum dropout voltage and that's when he found the note.

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

Note 8 is saying that the input voltage would need to be below the minimum input voltage of 1.6V to measure the dropout when VOUT is less than 1.6V. The dropout for this device (or really any LDO) is much less than 3.3V - 1.1V = 2.2V so this is fine if they want to use VIN = 3.3V.

    Regards,

    Nick
