PTD08D210W: -

Part Number: PTD08D210W

Hi,

We have been using four PTD08D210W modules following the eval board of XC7Z020. On the board, one of the module's temperatures crosses more than 70 °C. The only difference between the modules in the XC7Z020 Eval board and the one which we use is that, once we use one of the PTD modules power is given to 3 additional IC'S and that particular Module reaches up to 70 °C. Can you suggest ways to reduce the heat?

Regards,

Jeevan

  • Can you also suggest the reason for the heat generation?

  • Hi Jeevan,

I am not familiar with XC7Z020 eval board and do not know how much current it draws/consumes.

PTD08D210W is a dual 10A module. You should make sure that you are not loading PTD08D210W with more than 2 X10A.
The more you load the PTD08D210W the warmer it becomes.

The best way to cool these modules is lowering the amount of current drawn from the output and cooling the module with a fan that flows the air on these modules. Please refer to the Figures 7, 8 and 9 (Safe Operating Area) on the PTD08D210W datasheet for more details.

    Hope this makes sense.
