TL1963A: TL1963A 'SENSE' pin connected to capacitor

Part Number: TL1963A

Hello All ,

We are planning to use TL1963A-33KTTR  to replace existing  LDO  as shown below .

If i place TL1963-33 directly on existing layout with 'SENSE' pin connected to 470pf capacitor as shown below .

Datasheet says , 'SENSE' pin can also be pulled below GND potential.

would if affect the output of LDO ?

Thanks

Rohan

  • Hi Rohan,

TL1963A has reverse-current and reverse-battery protection, which allows both the OUTPUT and SENSE pins to handle voltages down to -20V in the event of a negative supply going into the output.

The SENSE pin needs to be tied to the output for proper behavior of the LDO since the SENSE pin is the input to the error amplifier. Leaving the SENSE pin floating or with a grounded capacitor can lead to undesired output behavior.
