TPS62813-Q1: Output inductance 1.5uH

Part Number: TPS62813-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS628501-Q1, TPS62811-Q1

Hi Expert,

Could you please check if the output inductor is proper?

From the data sheet, recommended MAX inductance is 0.9uH.

But the customer design target are

Vin 5V

Vout 1.2V

fsw 2.25MHz

k 0.3

Iout(MAX) 1A

So the output inductance should be 1.5uH.

Is it ok to use 1.5uH for output inductance?

  • Hi Dustin,

    Thanks for your question.

I would advise to use an inductor inside the Recommended Operating Conditions.

This device has an integrated compensation network, that is optimized to work with the external components listed in the Recommended Operating Conditions..

If you choose an inductor outside this range (for example 1.5uH), you could have some problems during operation (as stability, transient performance, ..).

Therefore, I would recommend to stick to an inductor around 0.47uH even if you are using a lower output current.

As last point, if your max current is 1A, you can look at other devices like TPS62811-Q1 or TPS628501-Q1.

    Thanks,

    Stefano
