LMR16030: simulation modelling of the LMR16030

Part Number: LMR16030

Hi team,

I help my customer to post.

"

I am attempting to run circuit simulations on the LMR16030S via 'PSPICE for TI' and LTSPICE.
PSpice TI takes to long to give a result and LTSPICE results are not as anticipated.
Is someone able to advise why the output voltage is tracking to -0.4V?
Is this an issue with the model or the circuit?
The circuit is implemented from both the datasheet and Webbench.
The models tested were from both ti.com and another e2e post with the same result.

Schematic and waveform are below.
The output voltage should be approx. 7.53 volts.

Thanks,

"

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

  • hi, zhonghui,

I can download and simulate in 'PSPICE for TI' with no issue, not sure whether it works on other platform. What item dose customer want to check, so we could help.

    Elena

  • Hi Elena,
    Thanks for the quick response.
Based on your response, there are no issues with the circuit.
The solution I am seeking is to be able to run the simulations on my system so that I can undertake multiple tests prior to manufacture; however the simulations do not run.
'PSPICE for TI' gives the below output, note that this took almost 2 hours to run before it got to this point.
The simulation was run with the standard runtime settings (attached) What settings need to be modified to improve the performance?
This circuit is a direct implementation of the Webbench proposed solution.
Please advise if you need any of the PSPICE files.

  • Hi Elena,

    Thank you for your help.

    Is there any update?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Zhonghui / Elena,

Thank you for your assistance with the above while my access to e2e was being resolved.
I have partially resolved the simulation duration issues - the LMR16030 model in PSPICE does work, however it is much slower than LTSpice - 6 mins 45 secs to run a 10ms analysis of the regulator.

I will post a full summary in the next few days for anyone in future that is facing the same problems. I am also still open to possible speed optimisation  suggestions from the TI team.

It would also be beneficial if the unencrypted LMR16030 model worked.

    Best regards,

  • hi, James,

We don't provide an unencrypted model provided for this device, sorry for this inconvenience. I am not sure if the file could be run in other simulation tool successfully .
