BQ21062: Routing to /CE via C3 and C4

Hello together,

we will have to connect /CE pin on our design and are asking if it is possible to connect via C3 and C4 (both NC pads). The datasheet says "C4 may be shorted to /LP" and for C3 " Do not connect to a any voltage source or signal to avoid higher quiescent current".

Is C4 short only possible to /LP?
Is there a rough estimate of how much the quiescent current increases if we would also short /CE to C3?

We have to balance between higher PCB cost or increased quiescent current.

Hi Marc,

Yes, C4 short to /LP is to facilitate routing and should be limited to the /LP pin. Alternatively you can connect it to ground.

I do not currently have an estimate on the quiescent current increase, but I can take some measurements tomorrow to provide a rough estimate of the affects on quiescent current with a /CE to C3 short

Hi Marc,

In testing it appears that shorting C3 to /CE increases quiescent current by about 800 uA if CE is pulled up to VIO, and by about 8 uA if /CE is not pulled up to VIO, it is a significant. We do not recommend shorting these pins.
