BQ24195: Operate off a Li-Ion battery or a 5.0V charger supply and need supplies from 0.85 Volts to 12 Volts.

Part Number: BQ24195
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS631000

I have an application where I can operate off a Li-Ion battery or a 5.0V charger supply.  I have need of supplies from 0.85 Volts to 12 Volts.  I am planning on connecting the SYS output to a TPS631000 with its output regulated to 3.3V.  Should I operate all of my other regulators off the TPS631000's 3.3 Volts, or would it be better to operate the 12 Volts with a boost regulator from the PMID output?  Is there any benefit or detriment to using both the PMID and the SYS outputs for my design?  Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Richard,

I believe the question is where to connect 12V regulator either at the PMID output or the 3.3V TPS631000 regulated out of SYS. I would recommend to connect all your regulators out of the SYS output, this way the charger has more control on the power path management having all the forward loads connected on single output pin. We recommend using the PMID output when operating on Boost Mode out of battery in reverse mode only.

    Best regards,
