TPS2120: TPS2120

Part Number: TPS2120

Hi,

I am designing a power Mux for our water pump which should be powered up with 8V only at the start up of the device and after 20us we should switch it to 5V.

Therefore the use of TPS2120, so the microcontroller can select the power rail needed (PUMP_SEL).

I would like to share with you the design in case there is anything to be improved :) I appreciate your help!

Regards,

Sabrine

  • Hi Sabrine,

To clarify device functionality, under this setup, 8V will be selected if SEL is less than VREF. Once SEL is greater than VREF, the device will switch to IN2 if IN2 is valid or will go to HiZ if IN2 is not valid.

The device would not switch back to IN1 until SEL is less than VREF.

If that is satisfactory, then this setup looks good to me.

If you'd prefer to have some supply redundancy in your system, typically we see customers tie PR1 low so that when SEL is less than VREF, the greater supply can be selected. In your case, your 8V supply would be selected and then once you want to switch to IN2, you would set SEL greater than VREF.

This would help in the since that once SEL is pulled low, the greater supply would be chosen rather than relying on the 5V IN2 supply entirely.

    Best Regards,

    Elizabeth
