TPS1HC30-Q1: duration of time for ICL_ENPS and IOVCR

Part Number: TPS1HC30-Q1

Hi,

What is the duration of time from detecting over current to limiting the current to ICL?
My customer is interested in how long time ICL_ENPS or IOVCR flow.

Best Regards, Taki

  • Hi Taki-san,

The fast response in the case of a large pulse (OVCR) is on the order of 1us to 1.5us. The current limit deglitch time to assert is typically 2.5us.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas

  • Hi Shreyas-san,
Thank you for your quick response!

    1. Is the order of 1us to 1.5us min and max coming from design target, simulation result, or measurement result?

    2. Can 1.5us be used as the value in worst case to estimate the peak current flowing through lines on PCB or harness to prevent damaging them?

    Best Regards, Taki

  • Taki-san,

    1. The fast response is from a design target, simulation result and measurement results. Do note this is a response time and the device starts turning off in the event of a fast current ramp like a hot short.

    2. The specification is the response time. The actual time of current flow will also depend on load and harness inductance. For example, a very large inductor could slow down the current ramp rate that the normal closed loop response (2.5us) triggers and not the fast response. But then in this case the current will not reach I_OVCR.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas
