BQ77216: how to manage unused cell inputs

Hi,

I want to use this device in an 8S configuration. Do I short the unused cell input pins together or does this cause a cell low voltage failure?

Hi Richard,

Unused cell connects can be shorted together, and this is usually done from the top down. When pairng with the BQ769x2 or BQ76940 devices, however, the top cell must be used. Section 3.2 Reducing the Cell Count in the EVMUG provides more information. I will link it here: BQ77216EVM User's Guide (Rev. A) (ti.com). I hope this helps!
