BQ75614-Q1: Difference

Part Number: BQ75614-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79614-Q1, BQ79654-Q1

Hi,

Good Day. Would you be able to tell me the difference between BQ75614-Q1, BQ79614-Q1, and BQ79654-Q1?

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi,

Here are the main features for each:

The BQ75614 is designed for battery pack monitoring for packs of up to 16 cells and can also support shunt-resistor current sense measurement. It can also support internal cell balancing with temperature monitoring.

The BQ79614 is a stackable monitor designed for cell voltage measurements for up to 14 cells. It can also support internal cell balancing with temperature monitoring.

The BQ79654 is a stackable monitor designed for cell voltage measurements for up to 14 cells. It can also support shunt-resistor current measurements. It can also support internal cell balancing with temperature monitoring.

  • Hi Nancy,

Good Day. The customer has some clarifications, please see below. I hope you could help me since the datasheets of the said devices are need software export control and still waiting for approval. Thank you very much.

There seems little difference, i.e. none really, what was the business case for the 3, or are they basically slightly newer chip revisions each time?

I just really need to understand which one to pick or why the different ones exist.

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

I granted you access to mysecureSW, and yes the only minor differences are between stackability, channel count, and current sense vs bus bar capability. They are all software capability for supporting flexible pack designs.
