Hello Raymond Lin, thank you for your reply. I use the EZ-PD protocol analyzer utility analyzer to capture PD communication log files. The first is to identify the maximum PD power of 20V-4.9A and the second is to identify 20V-3A. The phenomena of 3A and 5A appear randomly. My firmware definition is 20V-4.9A. The TPS65988DK does not read the EMARK information of the cable according to the standard. Procedure What do you think about that? Just to clear potential mishaps, did you use the same E-marked (5A capable) cable for both cases? I noticed there's a difference in the max current (3A and 5A) between the 2 sets of PD logs you provided. For the cable you're using, what is it's maximum current capability? 

I'll continue to look into both PD logs and provide an update if there's any new findings.

Hi Raymond Lin, I used TBT4 cable and its EMARK information was marked as 20V-5A. These two PD logs were tested with the same cable and equipment. At first, I suspected that the cable was damaged, so I replaced the TBT cable and the result was still the same.

Can you see if this issue occurs with other E-marked cables? If the cable is truly E-marked, then it should've responded to the Discovery identity message from the PD to determine the cable's max current capability.

Hi Raymond，I switched to another line. They are all the same. I specifically purchased the TBT4-certified docking station, which is also the TPS65988DK solution (same phenomenon as ours). We may need to go to the lab to test and analyze this problem

I am trying to help Raymond out on the side. Could you resend the PD-log in the .tdc file format? I had issues opening the .rar file in the Total Phase Data Center program.

Also, could you make sure the PD log includes cable connection to the 988/982 parts. This way we can verify what the EMark cables are advertising.

Hi Chris，I resend the PD-log file. The PD protocol fetching tool I use is ED-PD. You can download the tool through the connection (softwaretools.infineon.com/.../com.ifx.tb.tool.ezpdprotocolanalyzer), open it. Or I can export it as a CSV file, and you can open it with EXCEL.

Sorry Lian, could you send the file in the .ccgx format? I tried using the EZ-PD protocol analyzer tool you mentioned, but it was looking for this file format.

ccgx-log.rarOk Chris, attached is a rar compressed file. After unzipped, you can get a ccgx file, which can be opened with the EZ-PD tool. Two PD logs were captured based on the same device and cable, one was 20V/3A Max, the other was 20V/4.9A Max, TPS65988DK, the EMARK information of the cable was not read. EMARK information is read by the computer only at the beginning of the communication.

We took a look at the PD logs and noticed a difference when the PR swap occurs. Are you using the unmodified 987DK configuration as well?
