BQ3050EVM-001: Charging After CUV Condition

Hello Team,

1. What process should i follow to charge the battery after CUV condition occurred ? As DSG FET is OFF , we are not able to charge the battery using the Charger.

2. After CUV Condition , during rest time, Battery Cell voltage begin to increase and cross the CUV recovery threshold ( without charging )  still CUV condition remains as it is , Why ?

    1. Charge FET will turn on when the correct charger voltage is applied. The DSG FET state is not involved in charging.

    2. CUV recovery threshold value can be programmed in data flash. Without a separate recovery value you will see cycles of on/off when the load is connected while a CUV condition is triggered.

  • 1. Just to understand from EVM sch , CHG and DSG FET are in series of PACK+ Terminal , if any of FET OFF then Pack+ terminal would be isolated from Battery and No Current flow to charge Battery , Isn`t it So ?

      

    2.  In my case , CUV Threshold = 3380mV , CUV recovery = 3450mV. After CUV  Condition , Removing Load ( Battery REST ) will gradually increase the Cell Voltages around 3900mV but still CUV condition does not Clear....Reason ? Technically , rising Any Cell voltage > 3450mV should clear the CUV.

    It may be because remaining capacity is 0 or because there is such a large jump that the voltage change was filtered out as noise.

    CUV recovery should happen when the battery is charged.

    I am referring to this point. Since CHG FET and DSG FET both are in series , Hence DSG FET must involved even for charging. If DSG FET OFF and CHG FET ON , No charge current should flow.

    I think for Charging both FET MUST be ON to flow current. Hence , upon CUV (DSG FET OFF) , Charger will not able to charge Battery.
