LM25184-Q1: Isolated DC-DC converter solution

Hi Team,

My customer would like to find the Isolated DC-DC converter solution. The integrated solution is LM25184 but it cannot meet customer's current spec.

Could you suggest suitable to us? It would be better if we have reference design that can share to customer.Thank you.

Isolated Main Power Supplies

Total power supply: 200W

Vin range: 7V~36V

Vout_nominal: 12V

Remain operational time when input power loss: 5mS

Isolation voltage: >500VDC

This reference design seems to match most of your requirements however it doesn't go down to 7Vin. Let me know if this is acceptable or not.

Look like UCC2897A is most suitable solution to customer's requirements. Am I correct?

Also, I found another reference design PMP5123,and it can support Vin form 8V to 36V. But as datasheet mentioned, VIN pin only support minimum 18V. I saw there is additional circuit in PMP5123 as below picture. I cannot figure out this principle of operation. Could you please explain the working principle?

Hi Hardy,

The UCC2897A would be a better option than the LM25184-Q1 since the LM25184-Q1 will not be able to meet your customer's requirements.

The circuit you've highlighted seems to ensure that the voltage at VIN of the UCC2897A remains within acceptable limits of the device.

I'm going to reassign this thread to the correct product line to help with questions regarding the UCC2897A device.
