BQ27531-G1: Cycle count when a new battery pack inserted

Part Number: BQ27531-G1

Hello,

Greetings!!

We are using bq27531-G1 in our project. In our case, gauge has learned cycle count 'n' numbers (e.g. Cycle count =10), but when we insert new battery in the device the cycle count didn't change to " 0 ". The device shows the previous cycle count and SOH value.

Gas gauge will not sense that new battery has inserted and change the cycle count to 0 automatically? or we have to put " 0 " manually in the golden image file when the new battery is inserted?

As per TRM, The gauge maintains a separate cycle count for both cell profiles and resets to 0 if the insertion of a new pack is detected (page no. 17) but when we performed a test it's not resets to "0".

  • Hi Janhavi,

When you are reading the value of cycle count to see if this value updates upon insertion of a new cell, are you alternating between reading the cycle count 0 and cycle count 1 registers?

There are two separate registers that track this info so if you keep reading cycle count 0 upon inserting a new cell, it will stay at its previous value.

    Best Regards,

    Jackson
