TPS57040-Q1: difference with TPS54040

Part Number: TPS57040-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54040

Hi Expert,

My customer is facing shortage for TPS57040-Q1, and find that should be P2P compatible between TPS57040-Q1 and TPS54040. Currently, we are making detailed comparison between TPS57040-Q1 and TPS54040.

Some questions need to check with you.

  1. For TPS54040, the package name is called HVSSOP. For TPS57040-Q1, the package name is called MSOP-PowerPAD. But the pinout should be the same.
    1. What is the difference between HVSSOP and MSOP-PowerPAD?
  2. For maximum duty cycle spec, from the datasheet, I think it should be the same for both TPS54040 and TPS57040-Q1.
    1. Please help confirm this.

Thanks!

  • Hi Ethan,

These are the same packages, there is no difference.

In terms of the maximum duty cycle, you are correct it will be the same for both devices. The Low Dropout Operation and Bootstrap Voltage section of both datasheets states:

To improve drop out, the TPS54040/TPS57040-Q1 is designed to operate at 100% duty cycle as long as the BOOT to PH pin voltage is greater than 2.1V.
