LMG1210: How does LMG1210 internal fet affect bst diode reverse recovery?

Part Number: LMG1210

Thank you!

  • Hello Shengan,

The internal FET works to prevent the BST cap from overcharging. It only triggers during the dead times of the driver.

The internal FET also reduces the change in current over time by preventing the current from surging during the dead time. Reducing the di/dt and forward current of a P-N diode reduces the Qrr which reduces the reverse recovery. This particularly helps when the BST cap is transitioning from charging from LO being on, to discharging when HO is on.
