Hi, TI expert

I am looking for a gate driver device, it is photovoltaic application.

I see there are some devices which meet my requirement, some questions:

1. What are the differences between ucc27282, ucc27284, ucc27288, ucc27289?

2. Which one is the best? robust and low cost.

Hi Terry,

Our expert on this device is not here today. He should be able to respond Monday. I'll try to answer your question on device differences.

UCC2782 has interlock, an enable pin, and a integrated boot strap diode. It has a min supply voltage of 5.5. It has low current (7uA) consumption when disabled.

UCC27284 has integrated boot strap diode. It has a min supply voltage of 5.5.

UCC27288 does not have an integrated bootstrap diode. It has a min supply voltage of 8.

UCC27289 has an enable pin and a integrated bootstrap diode. It has a min supply voltage of 8.

It looks like the UCC27284 and the UCC2782DR is the lowest cost part on TI.com.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Our application is photovoltaic application optimizer. The PV voltage is 6V ~ 80V, The PWM signal comes from MCU.

From your information, it looks ucc27282 and ucc27284 can meet our application, and lowest cost.

Maybe the TI expert can give more comments.

Besides, I wonder why UCC27282/4 and UCC27288/9 has different min supply voltage of 8 ??

What is the target application of UCC27288/9?

Hello Terry,

It sounds like you should consider the UCC27272 or UCC27284 and chose the UCC27282 if you need the interlock feature to keep LO and HO from being on at the same time.

The other devices higher UVLO is to address the applications where VDD will be in the 9-10V minimum range where you may need a higher minimum Vgs for Mosfets that require a higher gate drive voltage.
