BQ40Z60: failed to write data memory to BQ40z60 (using Bqstudio)

Part Number: BQ40Z60
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi,

I am having problem to write data memory into BQ40z60 EVM board. Below is the error message from Bqstudio (version 1.3.101):

"Parameter not written, classname claibration, subclass name voltage, parameter name Pack gain written to data memory failed readback verification."

Any idea what is happening? thanks.

Regards,

Tom

  • Hello Tom,

Check if your voltage is above flash update voltage ok threshold

  • HI Shirish,

May I know what is the flash threshold level? or which section of BQstudio can I set it?

I have connected both battery (7V) and charger (12V) to EVM board, and still can't change the "cell gain" value.

    thanks.

    regards,

    Tom

  • Hello Tommy,

It looks like you are using 2 series cells. The default is configured for 3 cells. You will need to connect 3 cells or simulated cells using power supply to get the voltage above the flash update voltage. Then you can write from Data Memory tab of bqStudio. Search CC0 and CC1 in the TRM

  • Hi Shirish,

I still can't write to data memory after changed to 3 simulated cells (10.8V with 3 series 1kohm).

I used "write all" after changing the data memory, but it keeps roll back to original value when I read it back.

Please let me know if you need more information on my setup. thanks.

    regards,

    Tom

  • What is the CC0 CC1 setting in data memory currently?

  • Hi Shirish,

CC1 set to low(green), and CC0 set to high (red). It has been set to two cells previously, but I still can't write to memory using two battery cells.

F.Y.I. here the steps I write to Data memory:

    1) send unseal command: 0x36720414

2)send unseal full access command: 0xFFFFFFFF

3)change data memory value (for example serial number)

    4) click "write all"

    5) it managed to update in Bqstudio screen, but roll back to original value when I read the memory

  • Hello Tommy,

Let me know the version of bqStudio. Make sure the device is unsealed by reading and  checking operations status bits.

In step 4 you can press enter to write the value. The bottom status bar should show a message in red if the write fails.
