BQ21061: LDO dynamically voltage setting

Part Number: BQ21061

Hello,

I would like to use BQ21061 in our application to recharge a Li-ion battery in which I intend to connect our micro(host) to the LDO output. At the first power up BQ21061 has the LDO output at 1.8V that is sufficient to wake-up our micro but after that I need to change the LDO voltage at about 3V to power some other electronic components. From datasheet, I do not understand if our micro can acces BQ21061 registers through I2C to set LDO output voltage at 3V without to switch-off it temporarly (obviously if the change of the LDO output from 1.8V to 3V is only possibile with temporarly turn-off  the LDO our micro will switch-off and therefore this will be not possible!).

Thanks

Francesco

  • Hello Francesco,

To clarify the datasheet, the LDO voltage can be changed via I2C without needing to disable the LDO output. This should be an adequate solution for your application. Below is a waveform demonstration of an I2C driven voltage change of the LDO from 1.8V to 3V.

    Best Regards,
