LM5163: Does the LM5163 really exist?

Part Number: LM5163
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5013, LM5012, LM5169, LM5168, LM5164

I was having an issue with the voltage regulation on a product, and redesigned to use the LM5163.   I got a couple hundred of them and built up a batch of my product which worked well, but now the LM5163 seems to be gone.   I placed an order through a distributor over a year ago, and the delivery date has been pushed back several times, and is now listed as 'will advise' but the distributor doesn't seem to know anything.

Is it time to do yet another redesign?

  • Hello Mark,

The industry is challenged with supply issues currently.

I am sorry for the frustrating issues you are experiencing.

A few p2p devices (with similiar control architecture) you may want to check with your disty to see if they have stock of are:

    LM5012,LM5013, LM5168, LM5169.

LM5164 is the higher current version of LM5163, as well.

The first two are async. Having a diode placeholder (and appropriate power rating on your inductor) could enable you to source from 6 different part numbers for your design if you find the above part numbers acceptable.
