TPS74801: Relation between Vbias voltage and output current

Part Number: TPS74801

Hi,

In my design

Vin= 1.8V

Vbias=3.3V

Vout= 1.2V

Iout= 1.5A

My concern is If Vbias voltage goes for 2.7V then will it affect my output current ?

  • Hi Santhoshwaran,

    If Vbias is dropped below 2.7V, then yes during that operational period, the device may enter dropout causing VOUT to sag, and subsequently IOUT to decrease.

    However, once VBIAS is reasserted the VOUT will then begin to regulate normally again and the output side of the circuit will recover.

    Is there a specific reason you are concerned about your VBIAS rail having a brownout condition that would force it to fall over 18% from it's target voltage?

    Regards,

    John
