I noted there is a BQ40Z60 Firmware download (https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sluc598). I am wondered on which platform or MCU this firmware is targeted?

So this device cannot work until the firmware is burned into its on-chip flash, correct?

Hello John,

The chip comes preprogrammed with firmware. The chip can be upgraded/reloaded with new firmware too.
