Battery Fuel Gauge Recommendation - 4/5 LED output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24610, TPS61023, LMS33460, BQ40Z50

Hi all,

My current setup has a 2 x 18650 (Panasonic NCR 18650B) cells in parallel being charged by a BQ24610. Output from the 18650 runs through a LMS33460 3v under voltage protector and into a 5v 3.7a Boost converter (TPS61023).

I would appreciate some suggestions on what battery fuel IC should I choose, as the only function we would like it to perform is indicating battery % via 4 to 5 PCB mounted Led's. Is this possible and if so what would you recommend?

Thank you in advance

Chris

  • Just to add to this, we would also be looking to remove the LMS33460 and have the protection functionality within the battery fuel IC. Are there any IC’s that come preset to a 4.2v lIthium cell chemistry with the protection and led output or will it require flashing?

    Thanks

    Chris

  • Hello Chris,

The BQ40Z50 drives up to 5 LEDs and has integrated protection FET drive and supports 1-4S battery packs. I would take a look at this gauge first to see if it has everything you need.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
