BQ25883: Slower charging current after PRECHARGE

Part Number: BQ25883

Hello,

I have a chargin problem.

When charging is started with low battery voltage, the charging rate will slow down after PRECHARGE.
After that, if I unplugging and plugging cable, charging current speed become normal.
I attach the registry document RegisterMap_220412_edit.xlsx and and the experimental result document  of the experimental result Exp_221108.xlsx.
It is noted that if it start charging from a high voltage and with a normal charge (not PRECHARGE), the charge speed will be normal and fast.
Why does this slow charging phenomenon occur?
Was ICO function related to this phenomenon?

  • Hi Syo-san,

It is normal (actually it's on purpose) to have higher charger rate when battery voltage is higher. The higher rate comes from much higher ICHG set value vs IPRECHG value.

From the charger profile you sent, I saw two glitches on charge current, I assume that's when you unplug and plug in the cable. There is no effect on charge current from the first glitch. The second one is very close to precharge to fast charge transition point. So I think it is more related to the transition rather than plug.

    Best Regards,
