TPS543820: Mode pin resistor value

Part Number: TPS543820

Hi team,

Could you let me know the intermediate Rmode resisotr is used which is shown in table7-4?

For example, what can happen if the 220kOhm resistor (between 174k and 243k) or 330k (between 243k and 412k) is used?

I'm interested in how the internal circuit detect the Rmode and if any design risk.

Best regards,

Itoh

  • Hi Itoh,

The values 174K and 243K for example are in the center of the range for SS time of 1 and 2 respectfully.

The boundary between the two resistor ranges has some tolerance, that is why the center values which are away from boundaries make the best choice.

A resistor value like 220KOhms can lead to Tss=1 or Tss=2, depending on IC to IC tolerances, temperature, noise or other disturbances.

    Hope this makes sense.
