LM5123-Q1: Short to Battery Condition

Hi team,

Can you comment what will happen to the LM5123-Q1 if the output (Vload) has a short to battery condition.

Battery is in a 6V-16V range and we are designing for a 24V Vout boost so I'm thinking we will just current limit as the device trys to charge the vehicle battery. Do you see the part getting damaged in any other way?

Can you share a block diagram, with showing where you expect the short?

This would ensure we have both the same few on that.

Sure, so the LM5123 output is going to a offboard wire harness so the short would look something like this:

thank you.

If the design has been properly dimensioned, the device will see an overcurrent and terminate the current switching cycle.

As in this case the input is the same as the output (please confirm this is right), the natural path through does not give an additional current path.

So, there should not be any damage to the part.
