TPS7B86-Q1: Output accuracy

Part Number: TPS7B86-Q1

Hi team,

I have a question from customer on output accuracy of TPS7B86-Q1.

In datasheet output accuracy is guaranteed when Vin = Vout + 1V to 40V as below. What is the accuracy when Vin - Vout < 1V and Vin < Vout? Is there any way to calculate it?

Thanks,

Muwei Zheng

  • Hi Muwei,

Output accuracy is not defined for VIN < VOUT because this is dropout operation where the output voltage is not regulated. For the case VIN - VOUT < 1V (but assumed VIN > VOUT + VDO), there is not an easy way to calculate it, but it is reasonable to expect that as long as the operating point is above dropout that the accuracy spec will be very similar to the overall accuracy specs. We just can't guarantee it since it was only specified for the case VIN > VOUT + 1V.

    Regards,

    Nick
