UCC23313: Continuous output current

Hi Experts,

Seeing your assistance please.

Can you confirm the continuous output current (max) of the UCC23313BDWYR device? The customer is using this isolated gate driver with 28Vin supply.

Datasheet tells it has 4A source current, not sure if this is continuous.

Please confirm. Thank you.

Hi, Archie,

Our gate drivers are designed to drive capacitive loads. The 4A is a peak rating for driving a capacitive load. If they were trying to drive a resistive load, the current will be limited by the resistance of the driver which in table 8-1. The customer also needs to calculate the losses in the IC due to their load current, and make sure those losses don't result in the IC exceeding the maximum junction temperature of the IC.
