Hello,
My colleague observed the following while using the TPS272C45EVM, using a San Ace 9GV1224P4G01 24V (0.84A) fan as the test load:
Experiment #1:
- Set Eval board jumpers as follows:
- DIA_EN = HIGH
- LATCH = LOW (retry enabled).
- ILIM1 = 10K to GND
- ILIM2 = 19.6K to GND
- ILIMD = GND
- Fan connected to OUT1, EN1=HIGH: Fan spins
- Fan connected to OUT2, EN2=HIGH: Fan tries, but fails to turn on. Retry still kicks in every couple of seconds.
- Fan connected to OUT1, jammed the fan blade, EN1=HIGH: No spin, and retry kicks in every couple seconds.
Experiment #2:
- Set Eval board jumpers as follows:
- DIA_EN = HIGH
- LATCH = HIGH (retry disabled). <-- this is the only thing that changed
- ILIM1 = 10K to GND
- ILIM2 = 19.6K to GND
- ILIMD = GND
- Fan connected to OUT1, EN1=HIGH: Fan spins
- Fan connected to OUT2, EN2=HIGH: Fan tries, but fails to turn on. Noticed that the HSD is attempting a retry every few seconds.
- Fan moved back to OUT1, jammed the fan blade, EN1=HIGH: No spin, and retry kicks in every couple seconds.
It seems like the HSD retries regardless of the LATCH input setting. Is there errata regarding this problem, or is there something we're not doing right?
Thank you.
