TPS56C215: Datasheet spec change

Part Number: TPS56C215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54628, TPS56C231

Dear team,

Customer use TPS56C215 and design enable signal voltage level at 1.23V. Now faced to some issue if our device threshold voltage is 1.3V which is to equal datasheet Max_ENH.

They request TI to change datasheet as TPS54628 which only show minimum value of VEN.

Did we have plan to update our datasheet which can avoid misunderstanding about VEN threshold?

I will let customer to join discussion on this E2E post too. Thanks.

Regards,

Ben

  • Hi, we plan to keep current presentation, actually this table shows more information, min, typical and max of enable active. Which is enough for application design and convenience for power on/off check. and surely it needs to be set with > max value to make sure all ICs can be covered.

  • BTW, we have release B2B solution TPS56C231/C231L. Which can replace 56C215 directly. For En table, they are also same.

  • Hi TI Partner,

So we need product line update TPS54628DDAR data sheet due to the VENH only show min. was a high risk to user. Due to we never know the max. value for this pin will ship from TI. Please let your product line to corrected the TPS54628DDAR and inform us once it release. Thank you.

  • Hi Paul,

The VENH in TPS56C215 is threshold of VEN and we need to ensure the EN voltage higher than the MAX EN threshold 1.3V.

But the VENH in TPS54628 is EN voltage range and you just need to ensure the EN voltage higher than the min value 1.6V.

The max value of VEN range is 20V shown in the Absolute Maximum Ratings Table.

The content in the datasheet is reasonable and we now don't plan to update the datasheet.
