BQ24800: auxillery type-C power source issue

Hi team,

aside from adapter , we also want type-C power source.

so my question is, if we suddenly plug in the type-C during battery only discharging ,

should we turn off the battery FET first to prevent reverse voltage from 20V and then change the charge current?

or there's a mechanism inside that will turn-off automatically

Hi, Fred,

The BQ24800 ACDRV and BATDRV has an interlock function. The BATFET will be turned off before ACFET is turned on.

Hi Tiger,

the thing is ACFET is off the whole time since there're no source at adapter but type-C.

I was asking the type-C back-to-back MOS gate which is not connecting to our ACDRV

Hi Fred,

To add another branch, you will need to implement an independent logic to avoid turn on both ACFET and BATFET at the same time.

Alternatively, you can try BQ25792: I2C Controlled, 1-4 Cell, 5-A Buck-Boost Battery Charger with Dual-Input Selector and USB PD 3.0 OTG Output
