CSD19503KCS: SPARK IN THE MOSFET

Part Number: CSD19503KCS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD

We have developed customized inverter with Gate Driver 8323 with MOSFET CSD 19503KCS for PMSM Motor Control with F280049C.

we note that the PWM signal and gate signal are fine.

The board was supplied with 24 V, 20 KHZ PWM signal with 2us deadband to the gate driver.

one gate driver was used to control all the six MOSFET(AH,AL,BH,BL,CH,CL)

The TI Kit motor 24 V was connect as load, but after a small spin the motor was stop running.

could you please help on the above please!

  • Gowtham,

Thanks for you interest in TI products.

Can you please provide me with the specific name of the motor kit you used as the load and I will look into this for you.

These voltages are not normally enough to force a spark. There may have been a foreign piece of material somehow got on the pcb and shorted the MOSFET leading to a temporarily short which was then blown when power applied and caused the spark. This may have damaged the MOSFET.

Have you checked the FETs to see if the MOSFETs have still got the same impedance from drain to source or gate to source?

Have you tried replacing the MOSFET that had the spark and see if issue occurs again?

    Many thanks

    Chris
